Not all natural fibers behave the same way. Knowing what each material brings makes specifying a rug far simpler. Here is a short guide to the materials behind Terra 203 rugs.
Fique natural fiber
A sustainable plant fiber from the Andean agave, prized for strength, a subtle sheen, and an earthy tone. Fique is the durable, grounding foundation of our signature handwoven rugs.
Wool
Resilient and warm, wool is hand-knotted into rugs that ground a room and last for generations. It is a dependable choice for high-traffic and family spaces.
Baby alpaca
Exceptionally soft and lightweight with a natural luster, baby alpaca brings luxurious texture underfoot — perfect for spaces that invite touch.
Bouclé and metal accents
A looped bouclé weave in baby alpaca adds dimensional character, while hand-forged copper or brushed stainless-steel detailing brings a modern, architectural edge against natural fibers.
Choosing the right one
Match the fiber to the use: fique for durability and texture, wool for warmth and wear, baby alpaca for softness. Many of our best rugs blend fibers for the best of each.
